On May 30, 2002, three climbers died and six more were injured in a
freak accident high on 11,239-foot Mount Hood. Due to a fall,
three parties - nine people total - were swept into the Bergschrund
crevasse. To make matters worse, an Air Force Reserve Pave Hawk
helicopter crashed during the rescue mission. Six crew members
were injured in the accident. These exclusive PMR photos
(Page 2) were taken
during the course of the rescue mission.
