PMR Assists in Search for Missing 20-Year-Old Man

On Saturday, seven members of Portland Mountain Rescue joined the
week-long search for a missing 20-year-old man in the remote country
between Ripplebrook, Oregon and the Pinhead Buttes.

According to the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, the man had not been seen
since June 4th and the search was initiated on June 7th after the
discovery of the man's abandoned car near Forest Roads 42 and 4220.
The man, reportedly despondent and possibly suicidal at the time of his
disappearance, was not found despite the efforts of multiple search and
rescue organizations.

The search area, south of Mount Hood and near Warm Springs Indian
Reservation, was about
70 miles from Portland, Oregon.

Over the course of five days, the Sheriff's Office conducted an aerial
search using the Oregon Army 1042nd National Guard and coordinated a
ground search utilizing Portland Mountain Rescue, Multnomah County
Explorer Post 631, Search One K9, Mountain Wave Communications and
other area SAR and K9 groups.
Though PMR is generally activated for high angle rescues, the Unit
stands ready to assist in large scale or extended ground searches,
even if steep terrain is not involved.
