PMR Mourns the Loss of Our Own Theresa Klauck

On September 11, 2001, a great tragedy struck our nation and left us in
disbelief, shock and mourning, with a renewed focus on life.
The next day, another tragedy struck the Portland Mountain Rescue family
with the passing of a very valued member of our team, Theresa Klauck.

On September 7, just one day after attending a PMR training session,
Theresa entered the hospital with the rare disorder of the blood platelets.
Sadly, she never emerged from the hospital, passing away on Wednesday, September 12.
Theresa was an incredibly friendly, humble, thoughtful, caring and
creative person. She played a key role on many PMR search and
rescue missions and enjoyed the respect and trust of her team
members. In addition to her prominent role in SAR activities,
Theresa was involved with the PMR membership committee and was the
driving force behind many of our brochures. Her presence in the
organization was always noticed, and will be forever missed.
Later this Fall, when the snow blankets the mountains, Theresa's
Portland Mountain Rescue family will celebrate her life with a skiing
trip. We feel that this is the most appropriate way to honor her,
as she was an avid backcountry skier who frequented Pacific Northwest
destinations like Mount Hood and Crater Lake.
Theresa Klauck would have turned 40 on October 11, 2001. She will be
deeply missed.
