PMR Searches for Missing Oxbow Park Fisherman
Friday, May 10, 2002
At the request of the Multnomah County Sheriff, Portland Mountain
Rescue joined the ongoing search for a missing fisherman in the
Sandy River Gorge near Gresham, Oregon.
The local man was reported missing Monday evening and volunteers
have concentrated their search on the Sandy River between Oxbow
Regional Park and the Columbia River, approximately 12 miles
downstream from the Park. On the fourth day of the search
effort, PMR was summoned to cover the difficult mud slopes and thick
brush of the Gorge.
The PMR team scoured two areas of steep terrain in Oxbow Park and
swept 2 miles of the Sandy River from Interstate 84 to the Columbia
River. Unfortunately, as of the end of Friday, the fisherman
remains missing.
