PMR Aids in Rescue of Stranded Drug Enforcement Deputies
Sunday, August 12, 2007

Sunday morning, August 12, 2007 Portland Mountain Rescue was activated to help assist with a rescue near Stevenson, Washington. Authorities involved in marijuana farm eradication were forced to spend a night out in the wilderness. They had taken a wrong turn and became lost in a treacherous area surrounded by cliffs and water falls. The group called for help on late Saturday and local rescue teams from Washington and Oregon were able to reach them early Sunday morning.

The group was exhausted and severely dehydrated. Most were able to walk out on their own with assistance and the use of ropes set up by rescuers. By noon Sunday, a PMR team was on site and assisting with the liter evacuation of last remaining subject. Everyone was out of field by 4pm.
