Mt. Hood Tragedy 2002
On May 30, 2002, three climbers died and six more were injured in a freak accident high on 11,239-foot Mount Hood. Due to a fall, three parties - nine people total - were swept into the Bergschrund crevasse. To make matters worse, an Air Force Reserve Pave Hawk helicopter crashed during the rescue mission.
