The search area for the missing snowshoer covered over 13 square miles of the
South Side of Mount Hood. PMR teams combed the Southwest side from
Mississippi Head down to Paradise Park and Zigzag Canyon, the Southeast side
from White River Glacier down to Timberline Lodge and the South side from the
11,239-foot summit all the way down to the town of Government Camp near 4,000
feet. Due to harsh weather, search operations later in the
week were limited to the forested areas South of the timberline.
The subject's original destination was the Hogsback, a ridge South of the summit.
